Setting up WooCommerce invoicing and parcel points in Hungary: Számlázz.hu, Billingo, Foxpost, Packeta, GLS

Since 4 January 2021, NAV, the Hungarian tax authority, receives data on every invoice, including invoices to private individuals. Businesses that had only invoiced private individuals had to register in NAV's Online Számla system by the day of their first invoice.⁶ If every order is invoiced by hand, every order has a step that can be missed. When the plugin creates the invoice from the order, that step goes away.

The most used plugin is Viszt Péter's "Számlázz.hu integráció WooCommerce-hez", with 7,000+ active installs, tested up to WordPress 7.0.7.¹

• Free version: one-click invoices, PDF, proforma (díjbekérő), deposit invoice, delivery note, cancellation (storno), paper or e-invoice, a VAT number field, and the MNB exchange rate for foreign currency.¹
• PRO, from €30 a year: automatic invoice on order status, the invoice attached to WooCommerce emails, Autokassza bank transfer matching, E-Nyugta (e-receipt), company data lookup and VIES check.¹

The connection needs a Számla Agent key. Use one key per webshop. The key works with every Számlázz.hu plan, the free one included. Számla Agent itself is a separate add-on, billed monthly in arrears by the number of documents issued through the API the month before.²

In practice: if you want a paid order to create its invoice on its own, you need both the PRO version and Számla Agent.

"Billingo Official for WooCommerce" is Billingo's own plugin, with 3,000+ installs (version 4.3.4). It creates an invoice automatically on the order status you choose, handles proformas, cancellations and linked deposit and final invoices, and can check the buyer's tax number live with NAV at checkout.³

It needs a Billingo subscription and a v3 API key, and at least WordPress 6.8 and PHP 8.1.³

Viszt Péter's "Csomagpontok és Címkék WooCommerce-hez" (7,000+ installs) adds a map-based parcel point picker for seven carriers: MPL Postapont, Foxpost, Packeta, GLS, Express One, DPD and Sameday (easybox). Label printing, for home delivery too, is in the PRO version at €30 a year.⁴

We found no separate official MPL or Express One plugin; both are covered by the Viszt Péter plugin.⁴ With several carriers, the one-plugin route is simpler. With one carrier, its own plugin may be enough. We have already built GLS shipping into a client shop.

3. Acknowledgement of receipt without delay, on a durable medium, with the content, the date and the time.⁵
4. No login. Buyers must be able to reach it without signing in.¹⁰

The rule comes from EU Directive 2023/2673 and applies across the EU from 19 June 2026.¹⁰ An email address or a clause in the terms is no longer enough, and labels like "Mégsem" or "Visszaküldés" don't meet it.¹¹ The 14-day withdrawal right stays: for goods it runs from delivery, and refunds are due within 14 days, by the same payment method.¹²

1. Make a current backup of the database and the wp-content folder.¹³
2. Don't test updates on the live site.¹³
3. Check each extension's "Tested up to WooCommerce" version.¹³
4. After updating, place a test order and check checkout, payment, shipping and taxes.¹³ Check that the invoice was created too.

From version 10.8, WooCommerce recommends WordPress 6.9 or newer, PHP 8.3 or newer (tested up to 8.4), and MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.6 or newer.¹⁴

When the process doesn't run through WooCommerce checkout. The Amelia booking plugin's own invoice is a PDF and XML document to EN 16931, and Amelia does not mention NAV reporting.¹⁵ For that case we built the Amelia × Számlázz.hu plugin, which turns a paid booking into a Számlázz.hu invoice without WooCommerce.
