Cossy — Copyright & Takedown Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-12
Cossy respects intellectual property rights and responds to valid takedown requests under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the EU Digital Services Act and equivalent laws. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
For rights holders: submitting a takedown notice
Email [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright notice" and include:
- 1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- 2. The URL(s) or in-app location of the allegedly infringing material (for example, the username and a description or screenshot of the post).
- 3. Your contact information: name, organisation (if any) and email address.
- 4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- 5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act on the rights holder's behalf.
- 6. Your physical or electronic signature.
What happens next
- When we receive a valid notice, we remove or disable access to the material expeditiously.
- We notify the user who uploaded it that the material was removed because of a copyright notice.
- If a notice is incomplete, we may ask you for more information before we act.
- Knowingly submitting a false or misleading notice may make you liable for damages.
Counter-notice
If you believe your content was removed by mistake or because the material was misidentified, you can send a counter-notice to [email protected]. It must include:
- 1. Your contact information (name, username and email address).
- 2. Identification of the removed material and where it appeared before it was removed.
- 3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of a mistake or misidentification.
- 4. Your physical or electronic signature.
We forward valid counter-notices to the person who submitted the original notice. Unless they tell us that they have started legal proceedings, we may restore the material.
Repeat infringers
Accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright will be terminated.
A note on cosplay
Cosplay itself, making and wearing a costume of a character, is fan expression. Cossy hosts it as user-generated photography of real people. This policy covers uploaded media assets, such as official art, screenshots and other people's photographs, not the practice of cosplay.
To report other problems, such as someone reposting your photos, impersonation or harassment, use the in-app Report option; see our Community Guidelines.
